A Flying Jatt - Review. Move Over Krish, A Flying Jatt Is Here. πŸ’

Genre :- Fantasy / Action / Adventure

Runtime :- 2 hours 35 mins

Cast :- Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nathan Jones, Amrita Singh, K. K. Menon, Gaurav Pandey.

Director :- Remo D'souza

Plot :- The film revolves around a young Jatt boy (Tiger) who breaks out of his rut to save a piece of land from being taken over by a power hungry industrialist, Malhotra (K.K). And in the course, he has to fight an evil Raka, hired by Malhotra.

Well, as we all know that Bollywood's engagement with superhero flicks has not been healthy. Therefore, Remo
resorts to comic relief as an escape and hence we have a superhero who has Acrophobia, buys sabzi from the market, stops at red signals,
tries on funny costumes on his mother’s insistence and who is not flaunting his powers.
He is Bad Ass, Lame Ass and Great Abs!
Ahem. Does that ring any bells?

While, the concept of this spoof over superheroes works well, his preaching on Environment doesn't.

The Highs -
▶ Tiger doesn't seem to have impressed us with his acting yet, but this man certainly has an innate charm about him that makes us wanna watch him more.

▶ It's no news that we Indians, or Bollywood for that matter has always been "inspired" by Hollywood. But doing that with finesse, is what i found applaudable. I don't see any point in thrashing the movie because of its rip-offs on brilliant Hollywood Superheroes. We are trying hard to get there, aren't we?
If u can't acknowledge and encourage, better keep shut.
There are some popular and easy to recognize 'inspirations' like the action sequence where our Jatt does a 'QuickSilver' (Xmen), flies like 'SuperMan' (DawnOfJustice), Goofs like 'DeadPool', Runs like 'The Flash', and heals like 'Wolverine'.
He also takes help from 'Spiderman' for a cue on his love life. (The hidden identity and first kiss thing.)
Also, the antagonist Raka seems to be a fan of 'Magneto' (Apocalypse).
*Phews*
A special mention to the 'QuickSilver' scene, that has been beautifully depicted.

▶ Some scenes are downright hilarious such as Tiger dancing to Sunny Leone’s 'Baby Doll' and most of the scenes involving Tiger, Gaurav Pandey and Amrita Singh (Bebe).

▶ We are also given a glimpse of history of the Sikh bravery. Remo also manages to push in the ‘don’t make jokes on Sardars’ message in this one.
Bravo! *Claps*

▶ It is a funny superhero drama that has ample of light moments. Its Kid-friendly nature seems to be the most saleable point!

▶ Dialogues by Akash Kaushik and Madhur Sharma are good. Especially in the last half an hour.

The Lows :-
▶The first half is funny and fast-paced, but the second half is in your face preachy and also religiously over-dosed, which kind of dampens the spirit of the movie.

▶The songs are a call for a 'Loo-Break'.

▶ The movie crams TOO many social messages and you will see our superhero asking people to wear seat belts and not talk on the phone while driving, among many other things.

▶ Our villain Raka feeds on pollution, and the only way to combat it is stop polluting our environment. But he is killed by a religious instrument! If he was anyway going to be defeated in this manner, why go through all this pollution angle and social messages? Huhn?

▶ Also, the climax is out of the world. Literally! And it's superbly illogical.
Since when did the moon start having a gravitational pull? *Scoffs*

Direction :- Honestly, when this film was announced, I did feel that it seemed like an overly ambitious project for Remo who is primarily a choreographer and his only two directions were completely based on ' 'Dance' ofcourse. But his attempt at a superhero drama with a message is not bad but its writing is not upto the mark.

Editing and Cinematography :- Editing could've been crispier. Cinematography is better than expected apart from a rain-fight sequence where it seems completely shoddy.

Music :- The songs seem slapped on and have no relation to the plot whatsoever. 'Beat pe Booty' is good and is indeed a treat for sore eyes. 'Toota jo kabhi taara' which is a love song, is directed pretty well. All in all, the music is average. Strictly average!
The background score is quite irritating every time Raka is on-screen.

Performances :
Tiger is agile and excellent in his presence, but a poor dialogue delivery surely come in the way. Nobody can challenge him when it comes to the super air-kicks and hence his action scenes look quite good, nonetheless the actor still has long way to go, to come up in the top league.

Amrita Singh does a 'Two States' again as Bebe. Bebe loves drinking and has no filter to her mouth. She steals the limelight in the last 30 minutes with her epic dialogue delivery and intensity.

Kay Kay Menon is wearing weirdly blingy ties and if you could pay attention beyond those, you would realize his mean look is the same as that in ABCD.

Gaurav Pandey who was also seen as Varun Dhawan’s friend in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania does a good job in this film as Tiger’s brother. His comic timing is excellent!

Nathan Jones as Raka looks scary enough thanks to his huge structure itself. His ‘Surprise Surprise’ line although doesn’t come across as a threat much but seems rather funny. With lame dialogues like 'Meri Ruuh Kaali Hain (I have a black soul), he is just expected to open his jaws (with vocals like Haaaaa), widen his eyes and that’s your villain. LOL!

Jacqueline Fernandez as his love interest is beautiful and dumb. She is overly chirpy and shows no signs of efforts taken for this role. Her highlight in this film is clearly the sexy moves on ‘Beat Pe Booty‘!

Shraddha Kapoor makes a cameo in the film by calling out,
*Mimics her voice*
"Ayee Flying Jatt! Will you marry me?"
*Slow claps with a smirk*
While her scene isn't impressive, the dialogue which comes after it, is more funnier!

➡ You also get a glimpse of Sushant Pujari (Vernon of ABCD2 Fame) who plays his violin hard enough to woo Jacqueline.

I have put all the Highs and the Lows in front of you, Go Figure!

Ratings :- 3/5 (If u are under 18)
                  2.5/5 (For Adults)

Happy Bhaag Jayegi - Surprisingly Good. ❤

🎭 Genre :- Border RomCom

🎲 Runtime :- 2 hours 10 mins

πŸƒ Cast :- Abhay Deol, Diana Penty, Momal Sheikh, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill, Kanwaljeet, Piyush Mishra

πŸŽ₯ Director :- Mudassar Aziz

πŸ“œPlot :- Happy Bhag Jayegi is the story of an Amritsari bride Happy (Diana Penty) who runs away on the day of her marriage to local goon Bagga (Jimmy Shergill) because she loves Guddu (Ali Fazal). Happy boards the wrong escape vehicle and ends up in Pakistan and creates havoc in the lives of a budding politician in Lahore, Bilal Ahmed (Abhay Deol), and his fiancΓ© Zoya (Pakistani actress Momal Sheikh). Will Happy and Guddu’s love story have a happy ending?

It is a light-hearted entertainer where the actors don’t go overboard.

The Lows -
➡Director Mudassar Aziz who also doubles up as the writer renders his characters more superficial than real. Why does a Happy who is always so happy not gather the courage to speak to her own dad about her forced marriage? We never really understand the motivations of the characters.
Also, the character build up for Happy isn't so endearing. Even by the end of the movie, you aren't aware of how exactly Happy is, as a person.
There is one beautiful scene wherein Guddu (Ali) tells Bilal (Abhay), "It is impossible not to love Happy once you get to know her", but we never get to know her so we dont find that out for ourselves.
Imagine having your name in the name of the film, and yet being given only one intense conversation with another character throughout the film. Not fair, right? She remains a distant figure all throughout.

➡ While the first half is easy, a chaotic second half pulls this film down. Also, the climax is extremely hurried.

➡Bilal and Zoya's love story is better explored in the screenplay rather than Guddu and Happy's. You don't even get a backgdrop as to why Happy fell in love with a good-for-nothing Guddu, who only knows how to play a 'Tun-tuna'(Guitar).

➡The film had potential and could've been a bigger success like "Tanu weds Manu", but the lazy plot restraints never lets it fly.

The High's :-
➡ The characters and the humour is sensible. They take liberties to be funny, but understand the gravity of the situation.

➡ The climax although devoid of the stock dramatic effects, is nevertheless quite endearing.

➡ The film is entirely shot in India, but the visuals and set up depicting Pakistan are applaud-worthy. One of the most likable points about this is, the representation of the life beyond the border which is quite similar to us.

➡A drunk Guddu and Pakistani police, Afridi (Piyush Mishra) discussing Urdu and not Kashmir, makes up for a hilarious scene.

➡ Aziz throws in some good crowd-pleasing lines about Pakistan, but they are inoffensive and balanced out by the bond between Bilal, Usmaan, Guddu and Happy.

➡ There are few moments of maturity in the screenplay. The best one being the writing of Zoya's character. She could've easily been the Evil 'other woman' in the hero's life but as the film progresses, she becomes more than the lazy stereotype. And that's good.

➡ Also, the climax is unconventional which is a great thing in itself.

🎢 Music :- Music of the film could have been much better. There is not a single foot tapping number for the vivacious Happy to prove her character’s crazy side. The romantic numbers are quite passable. "Tera tera" is best amongst the lot.

πŸ’‘ Performances :-
▶ Diana Penty as Happy is surprisingly good. We saw her in Cocktail under Deepika's shadow, brimming with potential. And here she is, seeming to have guzzled a dozen of Red Bulls that makes her oh-so-energetic! She frequently goes overboard with the Punjabi accent but let's cut her some slack here, for she has undergone a huge improvement.

▶ Abhay Deol is back in form as the suave Bilal, the budding politician and its great to see him finally get a role worth his charisma.

▶ Piyush Mishra as the hapless senior policeman ASP Usman Afridi, nudges the funny bone and nails it each time he walks on to the screen. Besides, how can you not smile when Piyush Mishra is on screen? His accent, delivery and timing is sooo on point.

▶Momal Sheikh as Zoya is beautiful and pretty. She plays the supportive and sensible lady who stands by her fiancΓ©e when he is busy saving the girl, whom he has a liking for. And she doesn't hesitate a bit before asking him to go pursue his love and dreams.

▶Jimmy as Bagga is a pro at being slighted.*winks*
Having a history of being stood up by women in shaadi ka joda, Jimmy takes off from where we left him in Tanu Weds Manu Returns… He is again huffing and panting to get the ladki back. Poor guy!
“Humaare cards batt chuke hain” he screams almost 3 times to 3 different characters.
The poor fellow always ends up as the ‘bridesmaid.’ *chuckles*

▶ Ali Fazal has a forgettable part but he does it good. I mean, he isn't to be blamed. Imagine being termed a musician and never getting to play the so-called 'Tun-tuna' or sing a song. No, really.

▶ Kawaljeet plays the helpless father who takes on his own to find his daughter in the 'Padosi mulk'.

The supply of situational comedy won’t end till you leave the theatre. There is nothing to rave about, but it's harmless enough for a one time watch. In my opinion, this could be a better TV-watch.

Ratings :- 2.7/5 ❤

Mohenjo-Daro - Merely A Visual Treat. ❤😻

Genre - Period Drama/Romance

Runtime - 2 hrs 35 mins

Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi, Arunoday Singh, Suhasini Mulay.

Director: Ashutosh Gowarikar

Plot - Set in 2016 BC, Mohenjo Daro is the story of an indigo farmer Sarman (Hrithik) who goes to the market place in Mohenjo Daro, and chances upon certain upcoming's that he decides to fight against.

Before you watch it, i would like to introduce you guys to some words that appear in the movie, and the actual way we use it today.
(Yes yes, i know that's how it used to be pronounced in that era. But, i am just helping you guys out, no?😭)

Sapeena - Sapna
Suwaal - Sawaal
Turuntu - Turant (Rightaway)
HamaalKhor - Well, you definitely know this one. XD

To be honest, i was always a back-bencher in school. What I am trying to get at is, unlike other experts, I am in no position to pick on the historical ACCURACY of "Mohenjo Daro."

Basically, Gowariker puts in all the hard work and sincerity in the canvas and the mounting, in the seals and the statues but refuses to take the necessary leap of imagination to give us something fresh, when it comes to the story and romance. Mohenjo Daro is a case of seen it all, many a times before.

Story -
Mohenjo Daro cannot decide if it wants to be a love story or an epic adventure film or a revenge saga.
I didn't find anything so unique about it that it needed to go Before Christ.
A simple farmer (Hrithik), goes to settle 1 his goods in the marketplace of Mohenjo-Daro. Falls in love with the daughter of a renowned priest, and goes with his inner calling.
This is Bollywood. So here we have an evil villain (Kabir) and his dumb son (Arunoday), the former wanting to rule the world, and the latter wanting  to marry our leading lady (Pooja Hegde). Our hero defeats both of them and embraces the role he was destined to play.
PS - There are some clichΓ©d twists towards the end, ofcourse.
Now this story, rings many bells. Isn't it?
Also, one more thing.
Dear SRK and Salman, you weren't the one's that did the "ladki piche mudke dekhegi thing " first. SARMAN did it before it was cool. Take that! *Chuckles*

The movie takes you on an epic journey back in time to rediscover history like never before.

Cinematography -
Cinematography by C.K Muraleedharan is pretty good and plays a major part in recreating the era. Brilliant work. *Claps*

Editing -
Some scenes seem forced and should've been edited out. The not so intriguing story makes us feel tired after 2 hours or so.

Music :- "Tu Hain" and "Mohenjo-Daro" are beautiful and lively. Also, the choreography and visuals are a treat to sore eyes.
A.R.Rahman, Take a bow!

Direction:- Its a wonderful cinematic experience, that dwells you in that era of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. Ashutosh has taken care of each and every minor thing. The ancient city is shown perfectly the way it should be and the larger than life sets will leave you amazed. The film takes you back all the way to 2016 BC and will make you believe that whatever is shown on screen is so damn true. The camera angles focus on every inch of the city and its all woven together really well. Thumbs up to Ashutosh and the team of Mohenjo Daro for pulling off such a spectacular feat.

CGI :- While the multiple climax scenes did irk me a tad, it evidently gave the makers a wonderful chance to showcase some great VFX work.

Performances :-
πŸ’¨ Hrithik gives a stellar performance as Sarman. Right from the Dance moves and expressions to the hot bod and heavenly looks, this mahn carries this film on his shoulders. The fight sequence in the pre-climax flaunts his flexibility and swiftness like never before and those fifteen minutes are a treat.

πŸ’¨ Pooja, though pretty and a newbie, should get the benefit of doubt, could've done better with a little more expression along with the dialogues. She is so deadpan, i'd bet she'd be good at poker. Also, her overtly puckered lips reminds me of the sassy Shruti Hassan. Tbh, her acting too. *Tee-hees*

πŸ’¨ Arunoday Singh as the villain's son is plain dumb, the same that he was in 'Main Tera Hero'. Body with no brains. XD

πŸ’¨ Kabir bedi looks like the devil himself in those horned headgear. Also, his over the top voice adds to the villainy factor.

πŸ’¨ Suhasini Mulay shines in the small role given to her.

πŸ’¨ Sharad Kelkar in a cameo does fine.

πŸ’¨ It feels good to see Nitish Bhardwaj of Lord Krishna fame in B. R. Chopra's TV series 'Mahabharata'. And he proves his mettle as an actor.

πŸ’¨ Narendra Jha is brilliant as the chief turned Mad-man Jakeero. His character resembles to that of the  story-teller Babaji from 'Tamasha'.

❣ Mohenjo-Daro is another one of those masterpieces that appears once in a blue moon only to leave the audience awed by its perfection in direction, passionate music, superb acting, vibrant cinematography, breath taking scenes, stunning costumes and all the other unmentioned achievements. It has portrayed the ancient world down to the detail showing the cultural diversities and the hardships of the poor without wasting a single shot and only a mastermind director like Ashutosh Gowariker could achieve such perfection.

❣ The Visuals of Mohenjo Daro boggles the mind touches the heart and is a pleasant watch for the entire family. I recommend watching it for the sake of the larger than life Cinematic experience.

πŸ’• Ratings :- 3/5 (Only for the performances, visuals and direction.)

Rustom - Decent Enough. πŸ™

🎭Genre :- Thriller / Courtroom Drama

Runtime :- 2 hrs 30 mins.

Cast :- Akshay Kumar, Esha Gupta, Ileana D'Cruz, Sachin Khedekar, Pavan Malhotra, Arjan Bajwa, Kumud Mishra.

Director:- Tinu Suresh Desai

Akki had two releases this year. Airlift and Housefull 3; the former being better than the latter for obvious reasons. And now he is back with another thriller : Rustom.

Despite emphasising that the film is a fictionalised account, and doesn't bear any resemblance to anything real, the film is all about the Nanavati case. Trust me.

Plot - Loosely based on the Nanavati case, Rustom is the story of a decorated Naval Officer, who is acquitted of the murder of his wife's lover. Guilty or Nay? Let's find out.

The characterization is pretty simple. Director Tinu Desai’s characters reveal themselves rather obviously - A heartbroken naval officer, his cheating wife, the Casanova lover, his evil sister, sympathetic cops, an ambitious reporter and an overtly confused jury. But, slowly and surely, the movie grips you.

Expectations were already high because of all the promotions and the oh-so-convincing trailer, but it failed. It failed as a thriller but entertained us enough as a good courtroom drama.

What links Rustom to A Wednesday and Special 26, both films directed by Neeraj Pandey (who is one of the producers here), is that it asks us to root for a law-breaking protagonist. But this isn’t half as thrilling a film as those were.

Screenplay and Editing - Average !
Screenplay is dull in the first half and it ends with a budding suspense which we've already seen in trailer. The second half, which is set almost entirely in a courtroom, has more vigour and is definitely better. Rustom could have been shortened by 15 minutes, as a lot of time is wasted on slow motions and flashbacks.

Direction :- Tinu Desai, being the director of the film tried hard to justify the tagline of the film murderer, traitor, and patriot. But he couldn't execute that well. Too much time is wasted on setting up the affair between Rustom’s wife Cynthia (a mostly comatose Ileana D’cruz) and playboy businessman Vikram Makhija (Arjan Bajwa). The audience anticipated for that big punch which it could not deliver.

Story - It has a story explained in layers. The movie had a great potential, its inspiration being the fascinating Nanavati case. But sadly, it seems like an opportunity lost.
Tinu and Vipul (Writer) take the framework of the Nanavati case and add a generous dollop of fictional tadka. It’s a compelling idea but the result is a half-baked drama.

Cinematography :- Rustom has been shot well and despite the low budget, production design is good. Also, the cinematography is a clear winner.
The world from the 1950's looks almost perfect as the makers have kept a close eye on the detailings.
There are some flaws in it too coupled with poor CGI, but those are passable.

Music - Tere Sang yaara by Atif Aslam is soulful and hummable. The rest, are okay. The background score is over-dramatic and does not leave a good impression.

The most annoying part has to be outside the sessions court, wherein the crowds carry completely-out-of-place placards that read "Marry me Rustom", "I love you Rustom" and "I want your baby Rustom". Seriously?
We are not in an IPL match people. Ffs!

Also, unforgivably, the film sacrifices the complexities of the Nanavati case for the sake of commercial drama.

Apart from all the technical flaws, I will have to mention the fact that the audience seem to have enjoyed this movie thoroughly. I could hear hoots and whistles after many scenes. On a personal level, the movie is engrossing and wouldn't let you feel the pain in the neck.

One of the highest selling point of the movie has to be the courtroom drama and humour content in the second half. It proves as a catalyst in maintaining the viewers interest.
Also, right from people selling the 'Rustom Pistol' and the 'Vikram towel' - jo marne par bhi nahi girta hai', to the self-defense vs pre-determined murder arguments, the film draws heavily from the Nanavati case. And it works.

Performances -
πŸ’¨ Is there anything this mahn can't do? It is hard to believe that the same guy was playing the character of a lame ass Sandy, a couple of months back. As an honest naval Commander Rustom Pavri, he has played his character with full gusto. He cuts a dashing figure in his naval uniform. His erect spine is shorthand for a man of duty and determination.
Although he went poker faced in some scenes making it a performance that isn't even close to Airlift or Baby.
Still, the intensity in his eyes, dialogue delivery, screen presence, etc is perfect, the AK style.
To be honest, the only thing Parsi about Akshay is his character’s name.

*Do watch out for whistles on his entry in the film.*

πŸ’¨ Ileana D'Cruz is beautiful and cute. That's it. She is a treat for the eyes no doubt, but i wish her acting could match up to her beauty. In almost half of her portions in the film, the lady is trying hard to fake an accent. Why woman, why?
( The rest half she spents in crying ofcourse. XD )
Also, there is one scene wherein she falls and sprains her ankle, so badly that she is unable to walk. And the next morning, she gets up and walks so smooth, as if nothing had happened. Much wow!
*Scoffs*

πŸ’¨ Esha Gupta. Well, her character is that of the antagonist's snobbish sister. The only things she does in the movie are wearing expensive blouses, conducting parties, lots of eye-rolls and smoking lots of cigarettes.
(carrying a slender cigarette holder as if it were an extension of her lips.)
*Eye-rolls*
But she is nothing in comparison to Nargis Fakhri. Nargis still remains the undisputed queen amongst the most annoying actresses in Bollywood.
Hands down. XD

πŸ’¨ Usha Nadkarni, playing Rustom’s maid, gets many standout moments.
She maintains her Savita Tai -esque attitude, and keeps us all entertained.

πŸ’¨ Pavan Malhotra, who, as always, makes an impression that rises above the weaknesses of the film. He plays the character of a suave investigating officer Vincent Lobo, and is never caught without his starched buttoned-down shirt, black tie and pleated trousers as he goes about the job of establishing Rustom's guilt.

πŸ’¨ Kumud Mishra, as an editor of a tabloid called 'Truth' is a flattering caricature of a journalist who gets hauled up on a daily basis by the judge for infringing the law. The character is obviously modelled on Russi Karanjia of 'Blitz' from the original Nanavati case.

πŸ’¨ Sachin Khedekar as the public prosecutor, is boisterous and annoying.

πŸ’¨ The judge (Anang Desai) adds to the drama with wisecracks when he is not overruling or sustaining objections.

πŸ’¨ Arjan Bajwa as the lover, Vikram Makhija, did a decent job.

πŸ’¨ The other supporting cast did a convincing job. Some of them over acted a bit though. But that's exactly how people used to react in the 50-60's, right? *Wink*

The courtroom drama is scripted, crafted and geared to give the lead actor all the space that he needs in order to own the project.

For Akshay Kumar fans, Rustom is bound to be a full-on treat this Independence Day. With AK donning the patriotic uniform of a Naval officer throughout, it is absolutely as the prosecutor claims, "Uniform ka puura istemaal kiya hain." XD

Happy Independence Day Everyone ! ❤

Ratings - 3/5
(Half a star extra just for the mahn himself, Akshay Kumar.)

Suicide Squad Review - This movie is wicked good. πŸ’£

πŸƒGenre :- Action/Fantasy/Crime

πŸ’ΏRun Time :- 2 hrs 5 mins

🎬Director:- David Ayer

πŸ“œPlot :- A bunch of nasty DC villains are assembled together by a honcho named Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) because an even nastier super villain has decided to end the world.

Suicide Squad is the long gestating DC Comics film that every single fan has been waiting for. And i won't lie, the movie isn't perfect, but it sure as hell doesn't deserve the backlash that it has been receiving lately.

Followed by controversies like casting of Jared Leto as the Joker to the rumoured reshoots, this film has been on most minds since it was announced.

So here comes the question...
How does it hold up ? πŸ€”

Well, let's start off with the not so good part.
▶ There is a clear intention on building up these characters over building the film. The introduction of EACH character consumes about half the time before the interval. Say about a good 25-30 mins of a 125 mins movie.

▶ It is heavy on the characters and extremely light on plot and a villain. This is cool at first but once you realize most of the important plot points are in the trailers, it becomes a bit disappointing that there isn't a smartass villain to protest against, just anti-heroes to rally behind. I am serious! What they serve you is just another posturing villain with indefinite plans for world domination via a big, swirling mass of CGI.

▶ The ending is actually rushed, predictable, and i think they could have done better after building up the story of the final fight scene.
By many standard traditions, this is a film very close to The Dirty Dozen.

Less satisfying?
Have i lowered your spirits already? Chill. πŸ˜‰
Make way for ALL the goods :

➡ The Soundtrack is breathtaking.
'Heathens', 'Sucker for pain' are my absolute favorites. ❤

▶Through 'Heathens', Twenty-one Pilots warn us about our anti-heroes over the haunting chorus. 😍

▶'Sucker For Pain' is a shady rock-meets-hip-hop number that hears Imagine Dragons swaying chorus sandwiched between Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa's swaggering verses full of bad boy charm.

▶'Gangsta' by Kehlani is for all you girls who are gonna show up as Harley Quinn this Halloween.

The greatness in the film sits on many shoulders.

➡ The one major thing the film has going for itself is the visual palette – everything looks really cool in the film.

➡The dialogue writing is perfect. No amount of dialogue is wasted nor any simple movement is wasted.

➡ The humour content is bang on. Dull or shoddy at some places, but overall good enough to leave you chuckling. *Grins*

➡ The best part of DC movies is that  it gives its female characters equal importance as the male ones. Unlike other.... If you know what i mean. *Scoffs*

➡Performances n Characterization :-
The film is good but the performances are great. There is a true chemistry between the squad that is palpable and David Ayer deserves high praise for that. It is not about what is going on, it is about what is going on inside these character's minds that really pushes the movie forward. It is a casting done in heaven.

πŸ’¨ Jared Leto as The Joker is probably the most interesting part of the film. Leto does not even try to top Ledger or Nicholson, he simply does his own thing. He's devilishly charming but extremely psychotic. I compare him mostly to Mark Hammil's Joker from the animated series.

Leto’s has a smooth, blingy gangsta swagger; a modern take on the Joker bracket set by Ledger. It is unlike anything we've seen before so, for that, kudos.
Also, it’s not his style and elegance that really hooks you, it’s something we’ve never seen before :
The Joker in love. ❤
And the chemistry is beautiful, trust me.
Leto is in it for merely 20 minutes which is a bit disappointing considering his performance is absolutely mesmerizing and i wanted to see more of him doing Ha! Ha! Ha!

➡Moving on to the rest of the Squad,
πŸ’¨ Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is exceptional. She delivers a performance that is straight out of 'Girl, Interrupted'. She is extremely unpredictable on screen and it is a pure delight watching her relish in exactly what makes Harley Quinn memorable : Her sultry psychotic demeanor.

πŸ’¨ Will Smith as Deadshot is just Will Smith. There is no real boundary breaking performance here. He is the lead actor of the film and the film plays out like such. Not saying that Deadshot isn't a cool, badass character but it is just Will Smith in costume. You gettin' me?

πŸ’¨ Jay Hernandez as the fiery El Diablo is a nice surprise, his character made us feel for him, maybe even more-so than the top stars. Also, his Gangsta way of talking is top notch.

πŸ’¨ Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc is so compelling. As as actor he doesn't just act, he becomes that character.
And yes;
Killer Croc, You are beautiful!
(You'll have to see the movie to get this. *Winks*)

πŸ’¨ Adam Beach as Slipknot is in a forgettable role.

πŸ’¨ Jai Courtney as Boomerang is slappy but that's what is required of him. Also his skills aren't put to the best use.

πŸ’¨ Viola Davis as Amanda Wallar is perfectly casted and she nails it as the strict leader.

πŸ’¨ Karen Fukuhara as a sword wielding ninja named Katana, is good.

πŸ’¨ Then there is Cara Develigne as the evil Enchantress, who looks worlds away from her supermodel status as she cuts an unglamorous figure, playing lonely alter-ego June Moone. And mahn, she is good.

πŸ’¨ Joel kinnaman as Rick Flag does an awesome job playing the hardcore soldier, fighting to revive his love from the hands of the evil.

While much of the spoilers have been spoiled long ago, there are still a couple things that will bring smiles to your faces.
Ahem... You figure it out.

⚡🏏

It seems like DC has a long way to go in terms of churning out great comic book films like the Batman Trilogy and Suicide Squad is most certainly a great start.

Well, it may not lift the hype as in the greatness in the trailer but i think it's still a must see summer movie this season, and you should enjoy it without all the overly negative critics.

So, overall...
Does it break new ground? No.
Is it badass? Absolutely.
Is it fun? Oh hell, yes.
Should you see it? Ahh! Without a doubt.

And for all those naysayers,
I would have asked you all to...
You know 'Suck it up' but I'd rather ask y'all to just keep singing this to yourself and you'll be just fine :

"All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse."
Cheers.

πŸƒGenre :- Supernatural comedy

πŸ’ΏRun Time :- 1 hr 57 mins

Cast:Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth.

πŸ“œPlot :- Following a ghost invasion of Manhattan, paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker Patty Tolan band together to stop the otherworldly threat.

The original Ghostbusters from 1984,
is crazily enjoyable and gets better with each viewing, but the actors were what made it sparkle, and the characters remain unforgettable.

Talking about Ghostbusters reloaded,
an all-female cast just amped up my excitement levels. Every trailer and sneak peek into the film only fuelled the anticipation.

But after watching the film, it seemed like i was better off hanging up on this one. The plot and the CGI is tooo weak, it makes you cringe more than once.πŸ˜‘

Lets talk about some High's.
Its a good thing this film doesn’t mimic the superb silences and slow-burn, rolled-eye jokes of the old film. Instead, each actress picks a flavour and sticks with it, and the cast mostly breezes through it.πŸ‘Š

It lets these wonderful ladies try on the suits and situations and let their hair down their own way. It turns out to be giddily, infectiously fun and frequently forgettable. This is not a film trying to be brilliant. Instead, it stays simple while it breaks ground. It is as if Feig wanted to tell the world with films like Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy — that Hey, women are allowed to be juvenile too. 😎

Some people have an issue with women taking on roles originally written for men. The film addresses this fantastically by having the leading ladies read out comments from online haters and detractors - "Ain't no bitches gonna bust no ghosts. Wanna bet?"
And anyone who can’t enjoy these women having a good time - Here's something for you - It may not be a classic, but the laughs it earns are all its own.
So... Zip it up! 🌚

Deja vu - As you may have imagined, the original Ghostbusters all have cameos in this new film. Yes, even the late great Harold Ramis in the form of a statue. Watch out for a glimpse of Ozzy Osbourne at a rock concert. Even Murray makes an ironic appearance as do Aykroyd, Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Slimer is around, big and green and disgustingly infatuated with hotdogs; this time he is, rather unnecessarily, in 3D. Then there’s a lame version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This time, the giant fluffer has more teeth and less rolls of fat.πŸ˜‚

Talking about the characters and their performances...

πŸ’¨ McCarthy, has the straightest role and she nails it every bit.

πŸ’¨ Wiig is awkward and over enthusiastic, but she has some impressive sequences.

πŸ’¨ But the highlight of this movie is Kate McKinnon as Dr. Holtzmann.
People who aren't aware of her works should watch her hilarious Hillary Clinton impressions on Saturday Night Live. McKinnon steals the show with her weirdo antics. Wearing a lopsided bouffant that looks styled in Pisa, her Holtzmann is a thing of loony energy and joyous abandon, a nutcase who would rather go nuclear than go home. She’s jaw dropingly good and I can’t wait to see her again.

πŸ’¨ So is Leslie Jones of SNL fame. And some of the best lines come from Jones - “OK, I don’t know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I’m mad as hell."

πŸ’¨ Where usually a ditzy hot woman would be the eye candy, we’ve got hunky Chris Hemsworth as the imbecilic Kevin Beckman. With no redeeming qualities, Hemsworth’s a (ogle) worthy addition to any film, so we aren’t complaining… that much.

The plot is flimsy and peppered with gags. The 3D is a waste in Ghostbusters simply because Feig lays it on a bit too thick and the climax gets especially tedious and over the top, when all we really want is more of witty one liners from this awesome cast.

The film pales in comparison to the original and is a weak effort when observed on its own. It wastes too much time setting up our protagonists' backstories.

Watch the reboot purely for nostalgia, and to hear a rocked out ‘Who’re you gonna call’ theme song by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. You won’t be blown away, but you will be transported, albeit for a little while, to a happy time in the past. πŸ‘“πŸ’
Take a note : The ladies are the best thing about this franchise reboot. 😍❤
No big whup and no big fat flop either, the female reboot of Ghostbusters settles for being a fine, fun time at the movies. 😎

Ratings - 2.5/5 ❤
