Ghostbusters - You may want to hang up on this one. 🌚

πŸƒGenre :- Supernatural comedy

πŸ’ΏRun Time :- 1 hr 57 mins

πŸŽ₯Director: Paul Feig.

Cast:Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth.

πŸ“œPlot :- Following a ghost invasion of Manhattan, paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker Patty Tolan band together to stop the otherworldly threat.

The original Ghostbusters from 1984,
is crazily enjoyable and gets better with each viewing, but the actors were what made it sparkle, and the characters remain unforgettable.

Talking about Ghostbusters reloaded,
an all-female cast just amped up my excitement levels. Every trailer and sneak peek into the film only fuelled the anticipation.

But after watching the film, it seemed like i was better off hanging up on this one. The plot and the CGI is tooo weak, it makes you cringe more than once.πŸ˜‘

Lets talk about some High's.
Its a good thing this film doesn’t mimic the superb silences and slow-burn, rolled-eye jokes of the old film. Instead, each actress picks a flavour and sticks with it, and the cast mostly breezes through it.πŸ‘Š

It lets these wonderful ladies try on the suits and situations and let their hair down their own way. It turns out to be giddily, infectiously fun and frequently forgettable. This is not a film trying to be brilliant. Instead, it stays simple while it breaks ground. It is as if Feig wanted to tell the world with films like Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy — that Hey, women are allowed to be juvenile too. 😎

Some people have an issue with women taking on roles originally written for men. The film addresses this fantastically by having the leading ladies read out comments from online haters and detractors - "Ain't no bitches gonna bust no ghosts. Wanna bet?"
And anyone who can’t enjoy these women having a good time - Here's something for you - It may not be a classic, but the laughs it earns are all its own.
So... Zip it up! 🌚

Deja vu - As you may have imagined, the original Ghostbusters all have cameos in this new film. Yes, even the late great Harold Ramis in the form of a statue. Watch out for a glimpse of Ozzy Osbourne at a rock concert. Even Murray makes an ironic appearance as do Aykroyd, Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Slimer is around, big and green and disgustingly infatuated with hotdogs; this time he is, rather unnecessarily, in 3D. Then there’s a lame version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This time, the giant fluffer has more teeth and less rolls of fat.πŸ˜‚

Talking about the characters and their performances...

πŸ’¨ McCarthy, has the straightest role and she nails it every bit.

πŸ’¨ Wiig is awkward and over enthusiastic, but she has some impressive sequences.

πŸ’¨ But the highlight of this movie is Kate McKinnon as Dr. Holtzmann.
People who aren't aware of her works should watch her hilarious Hillary Clinton impressions on Saturday Night Live. McKinnon steals the show with her weirdo antics. Wearing a lopsided bouffant that looks styled in Pisa, her Holtzmann is a thing of loony energy and joyous abandon, a nutcase who would rather go nuclear than go home. She’s jaw dropingly good and I can’t wait to see her again.

πŸ’¨ So is Leslie Jones of SNL fame. And some of the best lines come from Jones - “OK, I don’t know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I’m mad as hell."

πŸ’¨ Where usually a ditzy hot woman would be the eye candy, we’ve got hunky Chris Hemsworth as the imbecilic Kevin Beckman. With no redeeming qualities, Hemsworth’s a (ogle) worthy addition to any film, so we aren’t complaining… that much.

The plot is flimsy and peppered with gags. The 3D is a waste in Ghostbusters simply because Feig lays it on a bit too thick and the climax gets especially tedious and over the top, when all we really want is more of witty one liners from this awesome cast.

The film pales in comparison to the original and is a weak effort when observed on its own. It wastes too much time setting up our protagonists' backstories.

Watch the reboot purely for nostalgia, and to hear a rocked out ‘Who’re you gonna call’ theme song by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. You won’t be blown away, but you will be transported, albeit for a little while, to a happy time in the past. πŸ‘“πŸ’
Take a note : The ladies are the best thing about this franchise reboot. 😍❤
No big whup and no big fat flop either, the female reboot of Ghostbusters settles for being a fine, fun time at the movies. 😎

Ratings - 2.5/5 ❤
